Mera Peak 6,476m

Nepal's Highest Trekking Peak

Mera Peak (6,476m) is the highest trekking peak in Nepal and one of the country's most rewarding climbing adventures. Located in the remote Hinku Valley of the Mahalangur Himal, south of Mount Everest, Mera Peak offers an exceptional introduction to high-altitude mountaineering while remaining accessible to trekkers with good fitness and basic climbing experience. The summit is renowned for its extraordinary panoramic views, often considered among the finest in the Himalayas. From the top, climbers can witness five of the world's highest mountains—Everest (8,849m), Lhotse (8,516m), Makalu (8,485m), Cho Oyu (8,188m), and Kanchenjunga (8,586m)—along with countless surrounding peaks stretching across Nepal and Tibet. The journey follows a scenic and less-traveled route through the pristine Hinku Valley, crossing the Zatrwa La Pass (4,610m) and passing through traditional mountain villages, dense forests, and alpine landscapes. The gradual ascent provides excellent acclimatization while allowing climbers to experience the unique culture and natural beauty of eastern Nepal. Although Mera Peak is classified as a trekking peak, its altitude presents a significant challenge. Climbers must navigate glaciers and snow slopes using crampons, harnesses, and fixed ropes. With proper acclimatization, professional guidance, and determination, Mera Peak offers an ideal stepping stone for those aspiring to higher Himalayan objectives. Combining breathtaking scenery, remote wilderness, and an achievable 6,000-meter summit, Mera Peak delivers one of Nepal's finest trekking and climbing experiences.
